Pasadena City College, in conjunction with the California Highway Patrol (CHP), will be offering a free Child Passenger Safety (CPS) seat check-up event at PCC on Saturday, September 22, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The event will take place at Parking Lot 3, located at Hill Avenue and Del Mar Boulevard in Pasadena.
Every year, hundreds of children are either killed or seriously injured in motor vehicle collisions. Studies have shown child safety seats can reduce fatal injury by 72 percent for infants and by 54 percent for toddlers (ages 1 to 4).
The CHP will have trained certified CPS technicians/officers inspecting child seats and offering traffic safety information. The goal of this event is to educate parents on the proper installation and use of child passenger seats. Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Inspections will be done by appointment only. To set up an appointment, participants must contact Amy at Pasadena City College (626) 585-1627.
