Jacque Robinson Appointed City of Pasadena's New Vice Mayor and Tyron Hampton Voted PUSD's New Vice President
On what turned into a historical night in local politics in Pasadena, John Kennedy was installed to represent District III as the new councilmember to replace longtime councilmember Chris Holden who has been elected to represent the 41st District as the new Assemblyman replacing Anthony Portantino.
The Pasadena City Council also appointed Councilwoman Jacque Robinson as Vice Mayor by Mayor Bill Bogaard. She has served on the council for six years.
The Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) elected new board member, Tyron Hampton as Vice President of the Board.
With these two moves African American will hold the number two seat on both the City Council and the School Board.
Hampton nominated Scott Phelps for President, and Phelps nominated Hampton for Vice President. While Hampton was voted in, Phelps tied for the key position of President to replace board member, Renatta Cooper.
It was unclear how the tie will be resolved. In the meantime, Hampton will assume the role of Vice President.
