Washington Elementary Celebrates Grand Prize with Event

A Fourth of July-themed gardening event is taking place this Thursday, June 27th from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m at Washington Elementary School located at 300 N. San Marino Avenue in San Gabriel, CA 91775.

The school is celebrating its receipt of the grand prize - $2,000 in gardening supplies including a raised bed, tools, and more – from the Voots Veggie-Fruit Tarts and National Gardening Association's (NGA) "Get Kids Growing" gardening grant program! Washington Elementary School was selected as the grand prize winner out of 650 applicants!

Come check out the following event activities:

  • A short yoga session for kids, family and staff.
  • A "fresh from the garden" Independence Day meal including recipes made with red, white and blue fruits and veggies.
  • Gardening activities with an Independence Day theme.
  • A discussion on how kids can celebrate a healthy Independence Day and why growing our own food positively impacts, not only our health, but also the environment.
