Free August Activities at Pasadena Senior Center
There is something for everyone at the Pasadena Senior Center in August. Events listed below are free for PSC members. Some events require advance reservations as noted.
- Cane Fu – Thursday, August 1, at 10 a.m.
If you walk with a cane, learn how to use it to protect yourself and avoid being a victim of crime on the street.
- Legal Services – Thursdays, August 1 and 15, at 10 a.m.
Attorneys will be on hand to discuss your issues involving wills and trusts, conservatorships, durable power of attorney and estate planning. Appointments are required. (626) 795-4331.
- Acupuncture Versus Medicine: Which is Better? – Thursday, August 8, at noon.
Learn the benefits and risks of acupuncture and medicines for various health conditions and which approach is right for you. Box lunches will be served to the first 50 people with confirmed reservations. (626) 795-4331.
- Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) – Thursday, August 15, at 10 a.m.
Dietary information recommended by the USDA promotes health and wellness. Following a simple guide can help prevent and manage chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes.
- Health Fair – Friday, August 16, from 9 to 11 a.m.

- LA Opera 2013/2014 Season Preview – Monday, August 19, at 1 p.m.
An LA Opera community educator will present a fun and informative talk about Georges Bizet's "Carmen," one of the most popular and beloved operas of all time, and highlight the productions on the upcoming season's schedule.
- Gourmet Dining Club – Tuesday, August 20, at 5 p.m.

- Social Security Planning – Thursday, August 22, at 10 a.m.

Explore options for helping seniors and their families make the right decisions about staying at home or moving into a professional facility during this presentation that will include costs for each option and tips for preparing emotionally for necessary changes.
- Friday Movie Matinees – Fridays, August 2, 9 and 16, at 1 p.m.
A great movie allows us to enter and escape into its world.
