Attendees Will Learn Fun and Fascinating Facts Behind Nutrition, Sustainability and Being Active
The Junior League of Pasadena Inc. (JLP) is pleased to announce its sixth annual "Kids in the Kitchen" event titled 'Follow the Seed' on March 30, 2014, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Madison Elementary School, 515 E Ashtabula Street, Pasadena, CA. Through multiple fun activities and work stations, which include seed planting, a mini farmer's market, active games and more, children of all ages and their caretakers will learn about food and exercise and the important role they play in building a healthy lifestyle. The event and all associated activities are free to the public.
Now in its sixth year in Pasadena, the "Kids in the Kitchen" program is an ongoing initiative of the Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. designed to address the growing epidemic of childhood obesity and promote a healthy lifestyle for young people.
Junior Leagues, in more than 200 locations across the country, provide lessons and demonstrations related to fitness and preparation of healthy meals and snacks in partnership with local community organizations, chefs and fitness professionals.
"By engaging kids in the preparation of healthy meals, they are encouraged and learn how to prioritize nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices," remarked Kristen Schwarz, President of the JLP. "We're very proud of this year's provisional members for putting together an event that truly embodies the mission of 'Kids in the Kitchen' and can't wait to see what these young ladies achieve as active members next year."
