Episode Premiers Saturday Night with the 28th District US Rep
Congressman Adam Schiff (D-Burbank) stopped by the Irwindale Charter Cable studios last Friday to tape an exclusive half-hour interview with former Assemblymember Anthony Portantino. Portantino hosts the monthly public policy talk show that appears statewide on Charter Channel 101. 'The Question Is' airs, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:00 PM and Saturdays and Sundays at 7:30 PM. A new show premiers the 15th of every month. Congressman Schiff's interview airs first on Saturday and then runs four times per week through April 14.
"It was great to talk with my friend Anthony about some of the issues my constituents care about, from protecting the Rim of the Valley to the situation in Ukraine," said Schiff. "Anthony and I also were able to touch on a number of topics that often don't get the attention they need -- it was great to spend some time with Anthony on set."
In his seventh term in the House of Representative, Schiff currently serves on the powerful House Appropriations Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. The 28th Congressional District, includes all or parts of the communities of Angelino Heights, Atwater Village, Burbank, East Hollywood, Echo Park, Elysian Valley, Franklin Hills, Glendale, Griffith Park, Hollywood, Hollywood Hills, La Cañada Flintridge, La Crescenta, Los Feliz, Montrose, Mount Olympus, Pasadena, Shadow Hills, Silver Lake, Sunland, Tujunga, Verdugo City and West Hollywood.
Prior to serving in Congress, Schiff was a State Senator and prosecutor. Congressman Schiff is a leader on preserving open space. He authored the Rim of the Valley Corridor Study Act in Washington and legislation that expanded the board for the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy Advisory Committee while in the State Senate.
Schiff and Portantino have long worked together on efforts to save Rockridge Terrace in La Canada and Schiff had Portantino testify before a Congressional committee when the Rim of the Valley Bill was first presented to Congress, eight years ago.
"I was thrilled and honored to have Congressman Schiff on the show. Adam is one of the smartest people I know and he brings a quiet confidence and an amazing authority and command of complex international and local issues. He certainly enhances and compliments what we are trying to do with this show, probe topics and issues that affect people in the San Gabriel Valley and throughout California. It's been a pleasure to have him as my Congress Member and it's an honor to call him friend," commented former State Assemblymember and talk show's host, Anthony Portantino.
