On Saturday, May 10, 2014, the Pasadena Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is hosting its 26th Annual "Fashionetta: Scholarship and Salute to Mothers Fundraiser Luncheon and Fashion Show" at the Glendale Hilton. The chapter is excited and proud to honor Reverend Nolanda Love as the Mother of the Year.
Reverend Nolanda Love is the Founder/CEO of Nolanda Love Ministries, Inc. and she is well-known in the Pasadena Community where she has worked in collaboration with many community organizations and ministries that include 12 years of service as an ordained Elder at Victory Bible Church and 25 years as Minister of Music at Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. She has also worked with The Links Inc., Women In Action, So. Calif., the Gospel Announcers Guild, The Boy's Club of Pasadena, The Late Donny Roberts & Unity, Jean Burch Ministries, Senator Carol Liu, and the Southern California Women's Health Conference. She is currently an active member of the Ministry Team of The Church on the Way in Van Nuys under Pastor Tim Clark, Sr. Within the ministry, she strives to do whatever God guides her to do at a given time so she can bring joy to others. Joy is an important concept and word to Reverend Nolanda because she feels that it means to help people through their struggles, but be strong in the Lord as His Joy gives us strength.
Reverend Nolanda has many interests that include singing gospel, writing poems and music, reading, cooking, and enjoying plays. She also takes time to pause and enjoy the beauty around her – mountain views, a beautiful sunset and her family and friends. Her creative energies are often inspired when she is at the beach where she writes. Through her life she has shared her blessings through music on a CD titled "With My Whole Heart" and a book titled "Joy for the Journey: Heart Expressions ~ A Poetic Celebration . . . " While being an avid listener of all Gospel music, a couple of her favorite artists are Yolanda Adams and Donnie McClurkin. A couple of her favorite Gospel songs are "He's Been Faithful" (Brooklyn Tabernacle) and "What About The Children."
Reverend Nolanda is driven by a strong desire to make a difference in the lives of others around her. This desire took her back to school in 2003 to get a seminary degree from The King's University. It is believed that every person is born with 'Gifts.' Reverend Nolanda feels that one of her gifts is to work with others to help them realize their 'Gifts' so they do not waste them. Her life philosophy is to be a worshipper first, live a God-centered life, and you'll finish if you don't quit.
Behind this wonderful woman is a loving and supportive family. She is the proud wife of Joe Love and the mother of Joe Love, II and Brian Love. The lights of her life are her six beautiful grandchildren. Joe and Reverend Nolanda believe that marriage is a commitment and should be seen as a lasting legacy. She gets great joy as she supports her children on their journeys to being all they can be. Some motherly advice is to "Seek Godly wisdom on raising them; cherish and love them unconditionally, encourage and pour into them every day and lead them to a life of discipleship and balance."
If you want to help the Pasadena Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. honor this amazing woman, come join us at Fashionetta at the Glendale Hilton located at 100 Glenoaks Blvd in Glendale, CA from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2014.
