Senator Carol Liu announces partnership with Women At Work and YWCA Pasadena Foothills to train young women.
28 teen women will be paired with 28 dynamic community leaders recently honored by the Senator as recipients of the "Women Mean Business " Award of the Year.
The young women, selected by the YWCA Pasadena Foothills, will participate in a weeklong series of job readiness trainings at Women At Work. Professional facilitators will cover such topics as resume and cover letters, interview techniques, dressing for success and financial management and budgeting.
Opportunities for practicing the skills will be provided by the 28 Professional Women Honorees. Each will be paired with a young woman, who will serve as a mentor and introduce the teen woman to her workplace and career.
There will be a reception at 4 p.m. on July 24, 2014 at Women At Work, where each young woman will receive a certificate of completion presented by the Senator.
"I thank both Women At Work and the YWCA Pasadena-Foothills for coming together to provide mentorship opportunities for teen women. It is incredibly inspiring to see women of all ages and walks of life come together for one unified purpose," stated Sen. Carol Liu.
