New Research Shows Majority of Parents and Volunteers See Benefits For Girls and Adults
Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles (GSGLA) is making its end-of-summer push for girls and adult volunteers to join Girl Scouts, the country's preeminent leadership development organization for girls. With families already thinking about how to allocate their time during the new school year, Girl Scouts has released new data showing the organization's benefits for both girls and volunteers.
Results of a summer 2014 pulse poll conducted with more than 3,500 volunteers and parents of Girl Scouts show positive effects on members of all ages. Ninety-seven percent of parents agree that Girl Scouts has been a positive activity for their daughter, that she has had fun and exciting new experiences (95 percent), and that she has learned or tried something new (96 percent). In addition, 94 percent of parents say that because of Girl Scouts their daughter feels special, has more friends (95 percent), and is happier (89 percent).

On August 28, Mayfield Senior School's celebrated its first day of school by marking a historic milestone in the school's history and commemorating the completion of the final phase of renovation funded by the Faith In Our Future campaign. In a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Student Commons and catering kitchen, the doors to this contemporary facility were officially opened.

Sample Classes Free on September 22 and September 23
Every fall the Pasadena Senior Center offers a full lineup of classes for people 50 and older ranging from art and computers to cooking and Zumba.
Some classes are now offered evenings as well as Saturdays and Sundays to accommodate working seniors.
As the registration period for fall classes approaches, anyone can sample the most popular classes for free by attending half-hour sessions, meeting the instructors, learning more about the courses and trying them out.
All sample classes, also known as Class Tasting, take place at the Pasadena Senior Center, 85 E. Holly Street. Membership with the Pasadena Senior Center is not required.

Pasadena, CA (September 15, 2014) – The Pasadena Village invites people of all ages to "Stay Independent, Stay Active, and Stay Connected" at a community Open House on Wednesday, September 24 at 3:00 p.m. in the Pasadena's Village's new meeting space.
The recent growth of the Pasadena Village, a non-profit organization supporting older adults who want to age in place, prompted relocating to a larger office complete with a meeting space for member, volunteer, and community gatherings. Village members and volunteers have already taken advantage of the expansion, turning it into a hub for Village activities such as film screenings, educational seminars, and volunteer projects.

Shakespeare in the PARK(let) to Transform Parking Spaces
Pasadena, CA (September 2014) – On Friday, September 19th from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Pasadena's Playhouse District will celebrate international PARK(ing) Day by transforming parking spaces into a temporary parklet for the installation of Shakespeare in the PARK(let).
The temporary parklet will be found on the south side of Colorado Blvd. between Madison and El Molino at 600 E Colorado Boulevard. Staged by the Playhouse District Association, Shakespeare in the PARK(let) transforms a 16'x16' area into an urban oasis. Enjoy an afternoon on Colorado Blvd. while you recite or hear a Shakespearean sonnet, and experience the expanded sidewalk area with people amenities. Bring a picnic lunch or buy one from a Playhouse District restaurant. Urth Caffe will be offering special discounts to PARK(let) visitors. There will also be an array of Pasadena Water & Power electric vehicles on display to enhance the sustainability experience.
