Pasadena Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha members support Assemblymember Chris Holden's Block Party.
On Saturday, July 26, 2014, the women of the Pasadena Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (AKA) supported Assemblymember Chris Holden's 15th Annual Community Resource Fair and Block Party. This event provided residents with the opportunity to discuss legislative and community issues as well as connect with local resources.
The Pasadena Chapter of AKA supported the event by registering voters and distributing information on upcoming events that impact the community. These events are the Seventh Annual Health Summit (9/27), the Annual Scholarship Workshop (10/18) and Day at the Races Fundraiser (10/25) where funds raised will be used for scholarships and to support the community programs of the chapter.
Registration of voters is part of the AKA Connection Program where the organization focuses on helping people make sure their voice is heard through the power of the vote. With everything taking place in the world, it is more important than ever that everyone take advantage of their right to vote.
It was an honor to support Asm. Chris Holden through this outreach Block Party that was attended by over 300 constituents of the 41st District and supported by organizations like Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Foothill WIB (Workforce Investment Board), Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Equalization, Pasadena Police and Fire Departments, California Highway Patrol, Metro Goldline Extension Authority, El Centro Accion Social, Incredible Edible Community Garden, San Dimas Rodeo and more.
