Multicultural College Fair Will Draw Hundreds

El Segundo, CA -- On Sunday, October 20, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Vistamar School will host its sixth annual Multicultural Student College Fair at its campus in El Segundo. One hundred colleges, universities and service academies will be exhibiting at the fair. These institutions seek to meet Los Angeles area high school students of all backgrounds, with a special interest in students from historically underrepresented cultural groups. Attendance is free for all students.

Event planners estimate between 800-1,000 students will attend the fair.

The attraction for students is to meet representatives from institutions they might not otherwise be able to visit in person. The list of institutions includes some of the nation's most selective colleges such as Harvard, Stanford, Duke, MIT, Princeton, UCLA and the University of Chicago.

Also in attendance will be many private liberal arts colleges, public institutions from numerous states, as well as several historically black colleges and universities. The complete list of participating institutions is available at www.vistamarschool.org/collegefair.

[Vistamar School is an independent, college preparatory, co-ed day school for grades 9-12, accredited by The Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The school's globally influenced curriculum and distinctly diverse learning community foster in its students intellectual engagement and a mature understanding of the world. Serving students from 60 different zip codes, Vistamar includes 51% students of color. Due to a robust "moderated tuition" program that allows for an affordable and accessible education, Vistamar's student body is also socio-economically diverse.
