Casting has begun for the independent film ‘Church' at First A.M.E. Church in Los Angeles. The movie will star singer-actor Terrell Carter, a regular in Tyler Perry production's including, "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" the movie, "Madea's Class Reunion", and "Meet the Browns."
‘Church' is a musical-comedy-drama based on typical Sunday services at the fictional "Glorious New Life Greater Emmanuel Faith Tabernacle Church of The Living God In Christ Up on the Hill." The movie is a production of Gospel Jam, LLC and directed by Cory King. King, along with Foster Corder, also serves as producer of ‘Church'. Businessman Tommy Ross, C.E.O of Pinnacle Strategic Group, is Executive Producer.
In his first starring role, Carter will play "prodigal son" Daniel Rhodes, who returns to the church as a Youth Leader and finds he must fight the demons of his past, and the fears for his future. Carter, whose vocal style has been compared to a young Donny Hathaway, will be the featured artist in the movie's soundtrack. The R&B sensation returns to his Gospel roots for the movie. Pre-production begins in mid-July. Casting is scheduled to be completed by June 12th.
