Black History Month Film: Brother Outsider

Celebrate Black History Month at a showing of this award winning documentary of the life of Bayard Rustin, architect of the 1963 March on Washington and often called the "the unknown hero" of the Black civil rights movement.

The film contains material from decades of FBI files that portrayed Rustin as a "dangerous subversive," and from reminisces of his key role bringing unions into the civil rights battles of the day.  Rustin also lived as an openly gay man despite the homophobia of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s.

The film showing (with the option of a great meal) will be on Friday, February 8 at 7:00 p.m., at Solidarity Hall, 2122 W. Jefferson Blvd. in Los Angeles.

Door donation $3-$5.

Savory home-cooked supper served at 6:00 p.m. for an $8 donation. (Sliding scale and work exchanges available.)

Sponsored by the Freedom Socialist Party.
