Making Preparation

Black news from Pasadena - Health and Lifestyle - Preneed Funeral PlansIt is advantageous to look ahead in life and plan for those events that we know are upcoming. Planning ahead is especially important for major life events: college, marriage, retirement, and other milestones. Wisdom dictates that we purchase life insurance, save money, and store up for the anticipated and the unanticipated. Although we want to look for it way down the line, death is one of those life events that is certain. How can you be prepared?

Woods-Valentine, as well as most mortuaries, offer Preneed Funeral Plans. As their title suggests these plans are made in advance, prior to the need. Planning ahead involves making decisions regarding one's funeral services before one passes away. It is advantageous to be as detailed as you can in selecting the type of service desired, type of casket, flowers, programs, number of limousines, songs, burial or cremation, etc . . . There are lots of choices to be made and laws to comply with, that require the guidance of an experienced and knowledgeable professional.

We at Woods-Valentine have new Pre-Need Planning Specialists to help you in making preparation. Keith Charles and Dr. Stella Spicer-Davis have recently joined Janyce L. Valentine, Rev. Jesse Chapman and myself in providing pre-need counseling at Woods-Valentine. Keith Charles has helped over 2000 families make arrangements in advance, over the 25 years he has been of service. Dr. Stella Spicer-Davis has family counseling experience and is a licensed and ordained minister of the gospel, as well. She is very capable, compassionate and committed to helping families make the right choices.

Preneed planning information is available on an individual basis via an appointment at the mortuary or at your home. We also hold seminars at the mortuary and at local churches. You are invited to join us for our free monthly seminars, held on the fourth Thursday of every month. They are titled "Necessary Conversations" and include the topics of Wills, Trusts, Living Wills, Social Security Benefits, Funeral Services, Cemetery and Cremation Arrangements and Insurance Verification. Our next seminar will be held in our chapel on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., at 1455 N. Fair Oaks Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91103.

Funding a Preneed plan and taking care of your final affairs, helps alleviate stress, worry and the financial strain that comes with being unprepared. Peace of mind is the result of planning ahead. Therefore, making preparation for the inevitable makes sense. Don't put it off. Call today. For more information, contact Dr. Spicer-Stella Davis at (323) 893-3380 or Keith Charles (562)688-2365.
