Monrovia, CA – SET for LIFE, in partnership with City of Hope, City of Duarte, City of Monrovia and Second Baptist Church, is hosting its Tenth Annual Healthy Living for LIFE Expo 50+, Saturday, September 13 at the Fannie Ms. Goodwin Education Center on the campus of Second Baptist Church, 925 South Shamrock Avenue, Monrovia.
By providing health education and opportunities for prevention screenings, SET for LIFE hopes to make an impact in the health disparities among ethnic minorities in the local community. The Commission on Social Determinants of Health, World Health Organization 2008, describes health disparities as, "Health inequalities that are considered unnecessary, avoidable and unfair/unjust."
This annual event from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., is free and is geared to ethnic minorities 50 and older, people with diabetes and their caregivers, as well as those seeking health screenings. Everyone is welcomed.
This year's theme is "Dispelling Myths About Healthy Aging."
Plenty of parking is available at the wheelchair-accessible facility.
A free healthy lunch is provided while supplies last.
