On Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM, the Seventh Annual Health Summit will be held at the Jackie Robinson Community Center, 1020 N. Fair Oaks Blvd, Pasadena, CA. The event is focused on providing FREE tests and screenings for a variety of diseases that impact our community.
Once again, FREE Mammograms will be available. The facts are:
- Breast cancer among Black Women is growing at an increasing rate.
- Blacks have a worse prognosis stage for stage,
- Death from Breast cancer is more common among blacks compared to other races.
- It is not clear what drives these statistics, but lack of access to get tested is believed to be one of the problems.
For this reason, FREE Mammograms are being offered at the Annual Health Summit. Take advantage of this service, sign up in advance of the event at aka-elo.org for a FREE Mammogram. The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) is in full swing. This means that some of the rules have changed slightly to qualify. If you have any private insurance, you need to get your Mammogram through that source. Otherwise, the requirements for a FREE mammogram are: 40+ yrs old, no breast implants, eligible for a patient reimbursement program - CDP, Family Pact or grant, and you cannot have received a mammogram within 365 days of the event. If you have Healthy Way LA, you should get a mammogram through that program. Otherwise, the fee is $80. Please go to aka-elo.org and click on 'Our Community' today to sign-up for your Mammogram! Please call 626.475.7710 with any questions. Give yourself a fighting chance, get your Mammogram now!
