Salutations Readers!

Black news from Pasadena - Youth Page - P.R.E.T.T.Y. Pioneer Newsletter by Chelsea J.I'm Chelsea J, and welcome to the January Issue of the P.R.E.T.T.Y. Pioneer Newsletter!

January Topic:
Year of YOU(nique)

Happy 2014! Winter break is winding down, holiday shindigs are now frozen memories on your smart phone; and to top it off you are probably sweating up a storm trying to burn all the calories from the feasts you had. Once the New Year greets us, everyone wants a do-over instead of propelling from where they are into the next level. I say no more New Year resolutions that you will not be keeping. Instead, make reasonable goals that you can conquer.

Be a visionary, not a dreamer. Dreams are what you wish for visions are what you are destined to accomplish. Let's stop the people pleasing, and be authentic with a true sense of originality and embrace your uniqueness. Everyone states: New Year, New Me. NO!

Don't change yourself to be successful, but be the best version of yourself. People are drawn to those who dare to stand out. Don't get caught up in being a part of a group or clique, but be content in your individuality and you will find people who share that in common.

Finally, make 2014 the Year of You(niqueness). You are already destined for greatness; it is time to reap the benefits of your hard work and dedication.

By Building Confidence in Others, You Build Confidence in Yourself

Jam 4 the Month:
Pretty Hurts by Beyonce

This song off of Beyonce's newest epic album is all about embracing individualism and not conforming to the world's idea of Pretty. "Perfection is a disease of a Nation" I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

XO Pioneers,
