On November 23, 2021 the community of Pasadena gathered at Villa Park to morn the the tragic death of Pasadena teen and Blair High School student Iran Moreno-Balvaneda.
On the early evening of Saturday November 20, 2021, Iran's life was tragically cut short by a stray bullet that struck the teen while he playing video games in his bedroom. This took place in the 900 block of North Raymond Avenue. Pasadena has been dealing a rise of gangs and gun violence in this area for the last year. Five shootings were reported in the last few weeks in the neighborhood where Iran was killed. A candle light vigil was organized to show support and solidarity to the Moreno family as well as to other family within the community who too have tragically lost loved ones to senseless violence. Members of the clergy brought prayers and and words of encouraging to the Moreno family. Also in attendance were member from the PUSD, The Pasadena City Council and various Pasadena community activist. A Go-Fund-Me has been set up to help the family with funeral cost and other financial needs.                    |
