The following statement from Mr. Trump is yet another example of how 'bad' our president has gotten. Maybe, Mr. Barr will come to his rescue with another of his lies like systematic racism does not exist. Really, can America afford to have this man as president. Reading his latest absurd statement, makes me question his mental state. President Trump has suggested without evidence that a 75-year-old man who was knocked to the ground by police in Buffalo, N.Y., during a protest over George Floyd’s death was a member of antifa and that the incident was “a set up.” Like this was the only abuse that occurred during these protests, I think not. How desperate and incompetent is our president? Even faced with documentary evidence of the president’s inflammatory remark, most Republicans averted their gaze when approached, declining to comment as they darted through the hallways of Capitol Hill and appearing to wish away what was on paper in front of them. Republicans behaving as if they have no idea what their president is saying or doing. His lies, falsehoods, racist statements and demeaning remarks are ignored so they can avoid his vicious personal attacks on them, what cowards! I guess self-preservation is important to those who lack a backbone. The nation waits in vain for a speech that might heal wounds, find a common sense of purpose and acknowledge the generational trauma of African Americans. This would require deep reading, cultural sensitivity and human empathy. Naturally, Mr. Trump has none of these qualities just his 'magical thinking' that all this will go away!
