Tijuana Artists Score a “Trifecta” in Los Angeles

Good News! More great art is coming out of Tijuana to Los Angeles. The New York Times aptly described Tijuana as an art mecca. For the first time ever three exhibits will be opening between June 13-June 20, 2009 featuring a diverse group of artists based in Tijuana.

The first exhibit is "The 3rd Zone: Consistent Inconsistency," at Avenue 50 Studio in Highland Park, Los Angeles and features the "Colaborativo Uno, Nueve, Siete" comprised of five emerging young artists from Tijuana: Vero Glezqui, Alejandra Phelts, Fernanda Uski, Marco VelaZco, Oslyn Whizar and Jacobo Ramirez from Los Angeles. This exhibit is their first showing in Los Angeles. The exhibit runs from June 13-July 5, 2009. The opening reception is June 13 from 7:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. On June 21, from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. "Artists Share their Stories," moderated by Dr. Rebecca Rojas, Pacific Oaks College. Avenue 50 Studio is owned and operated by Kathy Gallegos who is also an artist. The address is 131 N. Avenue 50.
