Veteran Day 2013 Closures & Reminders for City of Pasadena

Pasadena residents and businesses are reminded that City Hall and many city services will be closed on Monday, November 11, 2013 in observance of Veterans Day. On November 11, be sure to join local veterans, city officials and community leaders for a special Veterans Day Ceremony on the steps of historic City Hall from 10:00 a.m. to 11:11 a.m. honoring all U.S. veterans.

Specific holiday closures and exceptions are noted below.

The City Council will not meet on Monday, November 11, 2013. The Council's next regular meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Monday, November 18, 2013.

Pasadena Fire and Police Departments will continue to be staffed for all patrol, jail, fire, paramedic and other emergency services. For any life-threatening emergencies, always remember to call 9-1-1.

Pasadena residents and businesses with any power emergencies should call Pasadena's Water and Power (PWP) Department at (626) 744-4673 and for water-related emergencies call (626) 744-4138. PWP's Customer Service Call Center will be closed for the holiday, but customers can access their accounts and make payments by phone at (626) 744-4005 or online at www.PWPweb.com. The City's Municipal Services Payment Center at City Hall also will be closed.

Residents with City of Pasadena trash and recycling pickup services will be on a regular schedule for trash, recycling and yard waste pickups the week of November 11, including Veterans Day. No pickups for bulky items will be scheduled for November 11.

All Pasadena Public Library sites will be closed on Sunday, November 10 and Monday, November 11.

The City's ARTS (Area Rapid Transit Service) and Dial-A-Ride transportation programs will be operating on Veterans Day. All parking meters are free and parking time limits will not be enforced on November 11, however, parking citations for red curb violations and blocking fire hydrants will continue to be issued.

All Recreation and Community Centers operated by the City's Human Services and Recreation Department will be closed on Veterans Day, but all parks will be open for picnics, fun and festivities. No site reservations are accepted on holidays.

The City wishes all residents to enjoy Veterans Day and encourages everyone to remember the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and the sacrifices they, and their families, make in protecting our country and our freedoms.

During special gatherings or events, report any suspicious activity to the Pasadena Police Department. "If You See Something, Say Something" is an instrumental component in working to keep the Pasadena community safe, every day.
