Oakland, CA — Congresswoman Barbara Lee provided remarks at the White House Summit on Educational Excellence for African Americans on Saturday, June 14 at Laney College in Oakland California. Congresswoman Lee also provided remarks at Dr. Maya Angelou's memorial service at Glide Memorial Church in San Francisco on Sunday, June 15.

Both events were open press.

Saturday, June 14: White House Summit on Educational Excellence for African Americans

Congresswoman Barbara Lee provided an overview of the federal efforts to close to ensure students receive opportunities afforded by a high-quality school experience that prepares them for careers with family sustaining wages and opportunities for advancement in the global 21st century workforce.  She spoke at the Laney College Forum on 900 Fallon Street, Oakland, CA 94607.

Sunday June 15: Dr. Maya Angelou's Memorial Service

Congresswoman Barbara Lee provided brief remarks highlighting her personal relationship with Dr. Angelou while at Glide Memorial Church on 330 Ellis Street in San Francisco, CA.
