Mayor's Minimum Wage Hike Proposal Not A "Silver Bullet" For LA Economy

Los Angeles, CA – "The Mayor's minimum wage proposal will be helpful to many people but it will also result in some people losing their jobs or seeing a cutback in the number of hours they work," said L.A. Area Chamber President & CEO, Gary Toebben. "This proposal is not a silver bullet for our economy and it will negatively impact small businesses and non-profits who operate on limited budgets."

"Los Angeles has one of the highest unemployment rates in the county - three to four percent higher than San Francisco and Seattle. We still have 50,000 fewer jobs in LA County today than we did at the start of the recession seven years ago," continued Toebben.

Rep. Schiff – President Should Seek Authorization for Any Continued Use of Force in Iraq or Syria from Congress

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), a senior Member of the Intelligence Committee and author of legislation to sunset the post-9/11 authorization for use of military force, released the following statement:

"The threat posed ISIS is very real and must be confronted. The President was right to act in Iraq last month to protect American personnel, prevent a humanitarian crisis, and push back jihadists from continuing their campaign of mass slaughter. However, if the President intends to prolong the military campaign in Iraq or extend it into Syria, he needs to make the case directly to the American people and secure authorization from Congress.
