"PUSD Superintendent Dr. Brian McDonald Not Selected for Columbus Ohio School Superintendent.  The position Goes to current Interim Superintendent Angela Chapman"

Dr. Brian McDonald, the current Superintendent of the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD), recently made headlines as a finalist for the superintendent position in Columbus, Ohio Schools. However, Angela Chapman, the interim Superintendent of Columbus City Schools, was ultimately selected for the permanent position.

Dr. McDonald has been serving as the Superintendent in Pasadena since 2014, bringing his valuable experience and expertise to the district. Meanwhile, Columbus City Schools had been actively searching for a new superintendent, leading to a rigorous selection process. Of the 31 applicants, Dr. McDonald emerged as one of the three finalists.

On May 16, 2023, the Columbus City Schools Board of Education officially announced the appointment of Angela Chapman as the permanent Superintendent. Chapman, the interim Superintendent, expressed gratitude and humility for the opportunity to lead the district. Her current role and qualifications made her a standout candidate among the applicants, including Dr. McDonald.

Pasadena Unified School District declined to comment on the matter. However, rumors circulated that some members of the PUSD School Board had expressed a desire for Dr. McDonald to pursue other opportunities.

Dr. McDonald's candidacy for the Columbus superintendent position highlights his reputation as an accomplished educational leader. His experience leading the Pasadena Unified School District has undoubtedly contributed to his recognition and consideration for such prestigious roles.

The selection of Angela Chapman as the permanent Superintendent for Columbus City Schools showcases the confidence the Board of Education has placed in her leadership abilities. With her interim Superintendent experience and qualifications, Chapman hopes to guide the district toward continued success and growth.

Dr. McDonald's future as Superintendent of Pasadena Unified School District remains uncertain.
