Some Free October Events Hosted by Pasadena Senior Center Will be Onsite, Others Virtual Via Zoom 10/21/21
During the COVID pandemic, the Pasadena Senior Center, 85 E. Holly St., has offered many free online activities via Zoom for adults 50 and older, and now some onsite activities at the center are being scheduled. Registration for Zoom and onsite events is required by visiting www.pasadenaseniorcenter.org and clicking on Events, Clubs and Lectures and then either At the Center or Online Events. Everyone who registers for Zoom events will receive an email link for joining each activity online. Anyone who does not have WiFi or an email address may call 626-795-4331 to receive a phone number for listening to live Zoom events. Pasadena Senior Center membership and residency in Pasadena are not required for Zoom or onsite events. MUSE/IQUE Offstage Education Workshop – Wednesday, Oct. 27, at 4 p.m. via Zoom. Join MUSE/IQUE artistic producer Heather Lipson-Bell and guest artists from the MUSE/IQUE in a Minute! (...or Two) program as they explore music from the musicians’ perspective. Virtual Doc Talk: Breast Cancer – Thursday, Oct. 28, at 10 a.m. via Zoom. Do you know all you should about breast cancer? Dispute Resolution – Thursday, Oct. 28, from 10 a.m. to noon onsite at Pasadena Senior Center. Mediation is often a good way to resolve disputes without going to court. A neutral and impartial person, known as a mediator, helps both sides communicate and try to reach a solution to their dispute that is acceptable to them. Mediation can help resolve landlord/tenant disputes, family conflicts, debtor/creditor issues, consumer/merchant problems, neighbor-to-neighbor conflicts and more. Cultural Thursdays: The Magnificent Monuments of Paris's Père Lachaise Cemetery – Thursday, Oct. 28, at 2 p.m. via Zoom. Père Lachaise Cemetery is one of the most famous in the world because of its remarkable combination of the beautiful, the historic and the macabre. Annie Laskey, Pasadena Senior Center's director of events, will share her own photographs of the site along with tales of the cemetery, its monuments and some of its renowned inhabitants – just in time for Halloween! In addition to online classes, onsite events and other activities, members and nonmembers of the Pasadena Senior Center are encouraged to visit the website regularly for a weekly blog, monthly magazine, COVID-19 updates for older adults, ongoing activities throughout the year and more. The center, at 85 E. Holly St., is an independent, donor-supported nonprofit organization that has served older adults for more than 60 years. During the pandemic, doors are open Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for social services and other critical services for older adults in need, as well as limited occupancy for events, the library, fitness center and computer lab. Masks and social distancing are required. Rooms are sanitized after each use. |
