Sports Watching and Wondering

Black news from Pasadena - Sports - Lisa Leslie, Clippers owner, Lakers and moreLisa Leslie will be inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, on June 13, 2015, in Knoxville, Tennessee. The former basketball Superstar is currently employed as a Sportscaster on Channel 7, in Los Angeles. She graduated from Morningside High School, in Inglewood, California. She then went to USC, and won some championship there, and after graduating she went on to have a distinguished career, playing professional basketball for the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA.

Black news from Pasadena - Sports - Lisa Leslie and Women's Basketball Hall of FameOn a personal note, I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Leslie and her mother at an Academic Graduation Function sponsored by her high school. They were both regal and charming ladies, and each of them was about 6'4" tall. Lisa was not only beautiful, but she was poised beyond her years. It seemed to me that she was absolutely certain that she would be very successful in life, so she was already prepared to handle the success that would come her way. If I were to try to list all of her accomplishments, I would need more than all of the pages that are in this week's edition. Congratulations, Ms. Leslie, you have made all of us very proud of you!

Meanwhile, back on the Sterling front; he invited Steve Ballmer to his home. If you recall, Ballmer is the man who made a $2 billion offer to buy the Clippers from either Donald or Shelly Sterling, or from both of them. There is now a trial underway to determine if she had the authority to sell the team. At first, she thought she did, and now the court will have to decide. Nowadays, people are not as happy to get $2 billion as they were in the past. Well, money is not everything, although we have not yet found a suitable substitute.
