CLIPPERS - The signing of Danny Granger and Glen 'Big Baby' Davis by the Clippers is an indication that Doc Rivers is going to try to win an NBA Championship this year. Rivers believes all 12 of the players make significant contributions. In addition, Davis will find out that Rivers is the best diet in the NBA. By the time that Rivers is finished, they will be calling him 'Lil Baby'.
If he is healthy, Granger will be a force to be reckoned with. This man is a player who knows how to get the job done. He is in a great situation now. He is on a rising team, with a truly outstanding coach, and he is playing in Los Angeles. It does not get any better than that. Welcome to LA, Danny. Make this place your home.
LAKERS - Along with Jodie Meeks, this team is showing that it has some talented young players. Their up-tempo game is proving to be exciting to fans, who have suffered through a year of bitter disappointment. They can now see that there is a lot of light at the end of the tunnel. Kobe Bryant is still the big question mark. Will he be able to play next year? If so, how well? Will his presence intimidate the younger players, and stop them from playing as well as they can? So many questions, and so few answers. As television personality Herm Edwards says, "That is why they play the games!"
BARRY BONDS - He is back, and most of the fans still love him. They still do not approve of the fact that he was taking Performance Enhancement Drugs, but they do realize that he still had to hit the ball. He hit 762 home runs, many of them in San Francisco, where the situation is less than ideal. He played on teams where he was only a hitting threat, so it was easier and smarter to walk him, whenever he came to the plate.
