NOBLE (National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives) has long served as the “Conscience of Law Enforcement” and the San Gabriel Valley Chapter (SGV) has played an integral role in accomplishing this mission through outreach programs that not only educate but nurture, strengthen and validate our youth as well. In fact, over the past 7 years, NOBLE-SGV has overseen the distribution of more than $30,000.00 to high school students across the region.
Awards are presented during the Annual Scholarship Breakfast which is generally held in May. The COVID-19 pandemic caused cancellation of this year’s breakfast, but through the benevolence and support of Members and Sponsors, NOBLE-SGV was still able to support youth by awarding $1,000 Scholarships to 12 Students. On Saturday (June 6th), the Executive Board and Scholarship Committee travelled to each Recipient’s home and personally presented Scholarship Checks. PUSD School Board member Michelle Richardson Bailey (Committee member) along with Tournament of Roses/John Muir Alumni Association member Jill Hawkins took part in the presentations. Deputy Chief Mike Albanese, a long-standing and consistent supporter of NOBLE-SGV also participated, representing the Burbank Police Department and presenting the scholarship he and his Command Staff personally funded the past few years. The San Gabriel Valley Chapter is thankful for our Sponsors (Pasadena Sandwich Company/Fink Memorial Fund, Pasadena Federal Credit Union, Burbank Police Command Staff, Pasadena Black Municipal Employees’ Association, and the Tournament of Roses). We are extremely proud and honored to have assisted these 12 Worthy Scholars continue their academic journey into the future. CONGRATULATIONS! NOBLE National was founded in September 1976 during a three-day symposium in Washington, DC to address crime in urban and low-income areas. NOBLE represents over 3,200 members internationally, primarily African American Chief Executive Officers of law enforcement agencies at federal, state, and municipal levels who are committed to “Justice by Action”. The San Gabriel Valley Chapter was established in 2003 and covers the area from Burbank east to the Inland Empire. |
