The Pasadena NAACP is kicking off its Home Ownership: A Path to Power Workshop Series on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 with The State of Black Pasadena – Home Ownership. This powerful program will walk through history and look at where Blacks in Pasadena are today. Black residents in Pasadena has been on the decline. Why is this occurring?
One large impact on this decline is the cost to live in Pasadena – renting and home ownership. The cost of housing has only risen and is out of reach for many. Home Ownership is crucial to bending this curve and driving generational wealth. According to an article in One Main Financial, the large gap in Black Wealth compared to White Wealth lies in lack of assets like homes and investments. This means that in order to bend the curve, home ownership is crucial. The average rent in Pasadena is over $2000/mth, has no tax benefi ts and builds no equity. The NAACP Series, Home Ownership: A Path to Power is designed to provide tools to start bending the curve. Please join us on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 from 7 PM – 9 PM as we kick off the series with the State of Black Pasadena – Home Ownership. |
