Tim Scott is one of three black United States Senators. He is the only black Republican. He was chosen to give the Republican response to President Biden’s speech to Congress. He talked about America not being a racist country. Before he made the declaration that America was not a racist country, he told the television audience that his father left and he grew up in a one room house with two siblings and his mother.
He doesn’t explain why he grew up in a one room house. He told the audience that he was called the N-word and an Uncle Tom, over and over. He told how he was trailed around in stores when he went shopping. He doesn’t say why they followed around. He said he had been pulled over by the police numerous times. He doesn’t say why, but he’s big and black, maybe that’s why. He said his grandfather would pick up the daily paper, open it up and scan it with his eyes. It was later that his family learned that Tim’s Grandpa couldn’t read. Scott grew up in South Carolina and now represents that state in the Senate. He was originally appointed to the Senate by Governor Nicky Haley. As a result of Senator Scott’s statements, a black Congresswoman raised a series of questions about racism. She asked if this is not a racist country, why do we have a Fair Housing Department? Why do we have a series of Civil Rights bills and anti-discrimination laws? Why do we have voting rights laws, and why do we have a fourteenth equal rights amendment? Why do we have a Emancipation Proclamation Declaration, and why are we trying to get a policing rights bill? Tim Scott joins Clarence Thomas in the Uncle Tom club. Both appointed was Republicans; Thomas by appointed by President Bush senior and Scott appointed by Nicky Haley of South Carolina, one of the first stops for Slaves in 1619. One of the ships was called The White Lion. I say Scott should be ashamed to let them make a fool of him for the world to see. Republicans, when asked how they would like to respond to Scott on his statement about this not being a racist country, one said, “No”. I agree. There is nothing to say to someone too ignorant to realize that he has been mistreated in this country because of the color of his skin. He’s lying to us and to himself. He knows the truth that this is a country that is racist. Donald Trump and the Republicans don’t even want us to vote unless we vote against your own personal interests! The whites in this country treated the Native inhabitants as slaves, then they brought the Asians to build the Railroads and kicked them aside with the Asian Exclusion Act. Then also brought Africans to America and made slaves out of them. When slavery was over, they enacted The Black Codes, then the Jim Crow laws and anything that would keep Blacks working for free. Blacks in America couldn’t eat where they wanted to eat, couldn’t live where they wanted to live, couldn’t go to the school, or theater they wanted to go to. Then when they could go to these places, blacks were separated from whites. Blacks couldn’t work where they were qualified to work, or do the work they wanted to. They couldn’t go to the church they wanted to go to, and couldn’t swim in the public swimming pool. Today, blacks are more likely to be stopped by the police, more likely to be arrested, more likely to go to jail, and more likely to be convicted. Is America racist, or do we just have systems that are racist? Racism is the wind in your face holding you back, while the wind at your back gives that extra push to get you ahead faster. Senator Scott, you need to tell the truth. |
