The Curious Case of Antonio Brown
by John Randolph Rogers
Most people would consider themselves blessed if they could earn $30,000,000, or more, playing professional football. In addition to a salary like this, there would be some additional money from various commercials, or possibly “Dancing with the Stars.” This is what is available to Antonio Brown; and so far, he is not happy about it.
Brown had great success playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers for a number of years but he was not happy there. So, he demanded a trade and went to the Oakland Raiders. Historically, the Raiders have been the perfect landing spot for malcontents. However, in this case, the Raiders were not a good fit. Undeterred, Brown accepted a trade to the mighty New England Patriots. The Patriots routinely win NFL Championships; however, I am not sure that Brown understood that THIS is an organization that epitomizes team discipline. This is a team with just one diva, Bill Belichick, their legendary head coach. If you are a member of that team, then you already know that it is Belichick’s way or the highway
Brown lasted with the Patriots about a week; which proved those who said that it would not last right. Ha ha! He has enrolled in college and while I wish him well, I do not think that this is going to work for him. I have considered this issue from many viewpoints. Did you expect less from me? The Los Angeles Rams should sign him now, in order to win this year's Super Bowl. The Rams are already a great team, but they still need a little something extra, or the Super Bowl will slip away.
While I believe Brown would benefi t from some professional counseling, I do not think it will happen. I am certain that he will back in the NFL within a few weeks. If anyone has the patience to tough this out, the Super Bowl may be his reward! Good luck Antonio. I am rooting for you! [Email: Jorrogers@aol.com]
