KING JAMES WAS RIGHT - AS USUAL!
by John Randolph Rogers
Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey was apparently full of himself when he sent a tweet criticizing the mainland government of China, and for the way that they are handling their disagreement with their citizens. While Mr. Morey may not realize that the NBA does not control China. His rweet annoyed the Chinese government, in Beijing. They pushed back hard, and there was a real possibility that the Lakers would not be allowed to play their scheduled exhibition game.
bIn the end, cooler heads prevailed, and the game was played, as scheduled. However, because of the tweet, this year’s game was not the joyous event that it normally is. I think that Mr. Morey might better serve the NBA and the USA if he focused his Tweets on:
-Police brutality in the United States of America.
- Equalemployment opportunities in the NBA.
-Voting rights for citizens of the United States.
-Support for Colin Kaepernick

I do hope that he will be kind enough to let us know what he has already done in these areas, and what he plans to do in the future. We will be waiting to hear from him, and I will be happy to share his response with my Readers.

BAD WEEK IN LOS ANGELES -
UCLA, USC, the Clippers, the Lakers, the Chargers, the Rams and the Dodgers all lost. Let us all hope that a bad weekend like this never repeats itself. These combined losses have given us the worst weekend in our history. We need someone, anyone, to send a tweet for us.

Things are so bad, that they can only improve. While I was watching the game between USC and Notre Dame, I saw a ray of hope for the immediate future. I saw a baby-faced freshman quarterback, Kedon Clovis, and future running star Amon-Ra St. Brown. Against
impossible odds, they almost upset the Irish, on their home fi eld. This was a game that I had dreaded since I expected that my beloved Trojans would be slaughtered again. Unfortunately, the Trojans did not win, but their effort made us proud.

Urban Meyer, the legendary college coach saw them, too. I suspect that he will be motivated enough to come out of his last retirement and become the head football coach of the Trojans, next year. I will be very surprised if he does not do that.

Many of you may remember Herm Edwards. He was a Head football coach in the NFL and later a very colorful television broadcast personality. During his television career, he would often say “That is why they play the game.” He seemed to be a little long in the tooth, but Arizona State University hired him to be their head football coach. He has erected the Sun Devils, and they have an overall record of 5-1. If you ask him if this team was going to win this coming Saturday, I think that he would say, “That is why they play the game!” Welcome back, Herm, and congratulations on your great success with the Sun Devils.
